As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.koreaherald.com\/view.php?ud=20150427000217\">reported<\/a> by The Korea Herald, she joined Peruvian President Ollanta Humala to celebrate the first trainer jet assembled in Peru for Korea Aerospace Industries (encouraging hopes that a South Korean firm might be awarded a contract for Peru\u2019s advanced trainer jet project). In Chile and Brazil, she reached agreement with her counterparts Michelle Bachelet and Dilma Rousseff to expand and diversify existing trade agreements.<\/p>\n<p>Korea may well\u00a0need to cultivate what its government officials see as \u201ca continent of opportunities.\u201d With a few exceptions, South Korean trade with South America faltered in 2014.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Imports-from-SoAmerica-2012-14.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7735\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7735\" src=\"https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Imports-from-SoAmerica-2012-14.jpg\" alt=\"SoKorea Imports from SoAmerica 2012-14\" width=\"700\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Imports-from-SoAmerica-2012-14.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Imports-from-SoAmerica-2012-14-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Exports-to-SoAmerica-2012-14.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7734\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7734\" src=\"https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Exports-to-SoAmerica-2012-14.jpg\" alt=\"SoKorea Exports to SoAmerica 2012-14\" width=\"700\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Exports-to-SoAmerica-2012-14.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.datamyne.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2015\/05\/SoKorea-Exports-to-SoAmerica-2012-14-300x136.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>As the graphs indicate, the Korean Republic sold more to Bolivia, Colombia and Paraguay last year, while it bought more from Colombia and Ecuador. Otherwise and overall, the value of \u00a0South Korean trade with South America declined.<\/p>\n<p>Based on our Quick Look reports on the Americas trade blocs, South Korea was among the top 10 markets for Bolivian and Chilean exports in 2014 (while it slipped from the top 10 rankings it once held in Brazil, Peru and Venezuela).
